Plantar fasciitis pain and relief

Plantar fasciitis is a fairly common reason for foot pain and impacts nearly 10 percent of the population.

It can more frequently impact athletes, including runners and dancers, as well as middle-aged people, overweight people and those who have flat feet or high arches.

It is a condition that can present itself when the plantar fascia, which is a band of tissue running along the bottom of the foot becomes inflamed.

It can occur from overuse of the feet or an increase in physical activity or even from wearing shoes with bad arch support. Tight calves can also onset plantar fasciitis.

The pain and tenderness can often be felt from the heel to the toes and even up the calf. It can also cause redness or swelling in the heel. It can range from sharp to stabbing and is more likely to occur in the morning or following longer periods of rest.

Some common treatments have included pain relievers and rest as well as applying ice to the area.

In some cases, arch supports help or certain stretches as well as physical therapy. In severe cases, surgery may be recommended by physicians.

However, as with plantar fasciitis and other body pain and conditions, there are other more natural options rather than surgery and medication to mask the pain.
